Blockchain Enabled Financial Systems for Enhancing Transaction Transparency, Fraud Prevention, and Cross Border Payment Efficiency

Author

Bridget Joel

Abstract

Financial systems are undergoing rapid transformation as digitalization, global commerce, and interconnected markets intensify demands for secure, transparent, and efficient transaction infrastructures. Conventional payment architectures often depend on centralized intermediaries, fragmented reconciliation processes, and correspondent institutions, creating information asymmetry, settlement delays, elevated costs, and opportunities for fraudulent manipulation. This study examines blockchain-enabled financial systems as an integrated technological framework for strengthening transaction transparency, fraud prevention, and cross-border payment efficiency. The framework evaluates how distributed ledgers, cryptographic verification, consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, immutable records, and permissioned architectures can improve transaction traceability and reduce unauthorized alteration. It further assesses fraud prevention through anomalous transaction detection, identity validation, and real-time verification mechanisms. Cross-border payment performance is examined through settlement time, transaction cost, intermediary dependence, reconciliation efficiency, and operational scalability. Comparative and predictive analytical methods evaluate blockchain-enabled and conventional payment environments across security, transparency, and performance dimensions. The study provides an evidence-based foundation for developing resilient financial infrastructures that strengthen institutional accountability, reduce fraud exposure, accelerate international settlements, improve operational efficiency, and support secure, scalable, interoperable digital financial ecosystems.
