Formulation and Evaluation of Butterfly Pea Flower Anti Wrinkle Cream

Abstract
Skin aging and wrinkle formation are major cosmetic concerns caused by oxidative stress, ultraviolet radiation, dehydration, and collagen degradation. Herbal cosmetics containing antioxidant-rich plant extracts are gaining importance due to their safety and therapeutic efficacy compared to synthetic preparations. The present study aimed to formulate and evaluate a herbal anti-wrinkle cream containing Butterfly Pea flower (Clitoria ternatea) extract along with Tulsi extract, Aloe vera gel, Almond oil, Rosemary oil, and Vitamin E. Butterfly pea flower is rich in anthocyanins and flavonoids which exhibit potent antioxidant and anti-aging activity. The herbal ingredients used in the formulation provide moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and skin nourishing effects. The cream was prepared by emulsification method using aqueous and oily phases followed by incorporation of herbal extracts. The prepared formulations were evaluated for physical appearance, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, washability, irritancy, and stability studies. The optimized formulation showed good consistency, smooth texture, acceptable pH, excellent spreadability, and good stability without phase separation. The formulation also demonstrated moisturizing and skin-softening effects after application. The results indicate that the prepared herbal cream possesses significant anti-wrinkle and antioxidant activity and can be effectively used as a natural anti-aging cosmetic preparation.
