FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL ANTI-ACNE CREAM

Abstract
The present research project focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a herbal anti-acne cream using natural ingredients such as Neem, Aloe Vera, and Turmeric. Acne is one of the most common skin problems caused by bacterial infection, excess oil secretion, and inflammation. Herbal preparations are preferred because they produce fewer side effects and are safer for long-term use compared to synthetic products. Neem possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce acne-causing bacteria. Aloe Vera acts as a moisturizer and soothing agent that helps in skin healing and hydration. Turmeric contains curcumin, which provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. These herbal ingredients were incorporated into a cream base using beeswax, coconut oil, and rose water. The prepared cream was evaluated for different parameters such as color, odor, texture, pH, spreadability, washability, viscosity, greasiness, irritancy, and phase separation. The formulation showed good appearance, smooth texture, easy spreadability, suitable pH, and no skin irritation. The cream was also found to be stable and non-greasy. The study concluded that the formulated herbal anti-acne cream is effective, safe, economical, and suitable for topical application. Herbal creams can be considered a promising alternative for acne treatment with minimal side effects.
